Jessica Cassidy, a mother from Berry, New South Wales, heard thunder and told her daughter, who was swimming in her neighbor’s pool, to get out. Within 10 minutes the storm struck.

Cassidy stated that she could not hear anything because of the loud children screaming, wind and hail.

Our gutters had been ripped from the wall of our house. There was water all over. The sound was like that of a freight-train. We didn’t notice that a tree had fallen on the house of our neighbour. “It was cyclonic.”

The storm lasted for 15 minutes, and Ms Cassidy reported that her children were terrified.

On Saturday, the New South Wales State Emergency Service received almost 200 requests for assistance as wild weather swept across the state from Newcastle to Bega.

SES Deb Muddiman reported that they had received 15 requests for assistance in Berry.

Many of these were roofs and trees that had fallen. She said that some of the fallen trees affected power lines, causing Berry to lose power.

Jessica Cassidy described the scene as “apocalyptic” when her neighbors on Kangaroo Valley Road walked out of their houses.

The trees were all down. The deck chairs had been snapped and wedged into trees. She said that fallen power lines started a car fire, but the firefighters were unable to get near it because the power was still on.

It was insane. We still had inch-thick, pounding hail on our doorstep 16 hours after the storm.

A second video shows teens at a skatepark sheltering inside a pipe when the storm struck the city.

Near Nowra, the nearest official weather station showed gusts up to 54 km/h at around 6:30pm.

Berry weather stations reported gusts up to 132km/h.

Aimee bramley, president of the Berry Pony Club said that she was horrified by the damage.

Ms Bramley stated, “We lost the entire roof of our clubhouse, and it was a huge, twisted mess. We also lost two massive trees which fell onto new yards that we had built just a few short years earlier.”

It was just like someone ripped the lid off a can and now it’s gone.

The storm struck without any members of the team or horses.

She said, “We’re not sure where to start with cleaning up, as the building is unstable and unsafe. We are waiting for advice about what we should do.”

We bring joy to many children, and some of our riders even went to the Olympics. I’d hate to close the doors and no longer have a club to help the kids.

In Kangaroo Valley, more than 1,000 households lost electricity and in Berry 3,740 homes were affected.

Endeavour Energy reported that 113 customers were without electricity on Sunday.

The SES rescued a man who tried to drive his car through the floodwaters of Randwick, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Lightning strikes delayed a Sydney FC game by two hours, while a Centennial Park music festival was evacuated.

A performance by Canadian musician Daniel Caesar at Sydney Opera House’s Western Broadwalk was affected.

The show had to be cut short due to a storm. He posted an Instagram post on Saturday evening saying, “Sorry Sydney.”

Dylan Bird, from the Bureau of Meteorology, said that the system caused heavy rainfall.

In less than twenty minutes, Campbelltown received 37 millimetres (37 mm) of rain. He said that’s almost half a months’ worth of rain.

The Riverina region also saw 50 millimetres in three hours, and winds of more than 90kph were recorded at Yanco and Condobolin.

The weather is getting better, he said.

Bird stated that “the upper-level storm system has passed through the Tasman Sea and it is unlikely we will see severe weather today.”

On Monday, it appears that we may experience some onshore showers as well as thunderstorms along the north coast.

However, from Tuesday, it appears that a trend of drying and heating is likely.
